Fallschirmjäger

We tried out Rules of Engagement last week, which went well. The lack of fire support for the Fallschirmjäger took it's toll though with most of the casulaties cause by a rogue Russian lend lease Churchill. Not to worry though a Stug G has been ordered to tip the balance!

The Fallschirmjäger See Action

After a bout of painting the Fallschirmjäger got a game! We played Troops Weapons & Tactics by Two fat Lardies , the game went well the Fallschirmjäger facing off against some Russians in the snow, the rules seemed ok apart from the force mismatch between elite Fallschirmjäger and regular Russians. Lets just say there were a lot of dead Russians.

Next time we play it will be with a bunch of pine trees(secured in a bargin ebay auction) and we are going to try Rules of Engagement to see if close combat works any better.

More Fallschirmjäger

Ok, I can't stop painting these, everything else is on hold till my enthusiasm dries up. The Winter smocks were probably a mistake as I can't see any evidence they were ever issued, splinter camouflage from now on.

On the topic of splinter camo, previous attempts have never been that good, however my discovery of this guide and some new brushes have given some very pleasing results.

Ardennes Fallschirmjäger

Another longer term project, these are somthing i've wanted to do for a while. I was inspired following a game of Flames of War. The original idea was to do these in 15mm for FOW, however as the book isn't out yet I thought i'd paint some up of the bucketfull I have in 28mm.
